the beginning of the end...
So, having finished my summer teaching (which if you have passed through here once or twice, you know went very well) I will now attempt to voraciously read the texts that have been selected for my independent study. To be honest, I am looking forward to getting into it, but of course the beginning of the reading pretty much signals the end of vacation. I am trying to get some sort of schedule together that will allow for more than the occasional break after reading for hours, but the real challenge lies in the negotiation of the texts in question. Thinking requires time, and quiet-something that can be scarce around here in the summer since the kids are home. I was thinking I am going to attempt early mornings and late evenings, simply because the in-between time always seems to get interrupted, which makes me VERY grumpy (the new buzzword that describes me around these here parts). It's funny that my silence (whilst I contemplate the complexities of rhetorical theory) signals Mommy time to the kids. You should see the looks I get when I explain that I am not simply being quiet, but reflective...Yeah, they think I'm joking too.
