Unit 4: Proposal
Welcome to your last unit and last month of class. This unit, like the others, is research based, but unlike the others, this unit has an open topic. What this means is that you need to come up with a topic of research, preferably something from your major or field. If you do not have a major yet, you may choose something you are interested in. Your research project has the following limitations:
1) It must answer a "how" questionfor instance, how did WWII influence fashion, how can I control a model plane from my laptop, how do monopolies affect news coverage?
2) It requires you to read at least 50 new pages of information, to conduct interviews/surveys, or some combination of these; other means of research may be negotiated with me.
3) You must produce an annotated bibliography as part of a final paper.
4) Your final paper must be at least 8 pages including bibliography; you will be involved in determining what your paper looks like.
Your proposal should be 1 or 2 pages, should detail your project, and should provide a timeline of activities for the next month. It is acceptable for your project to connect to work you are doing in other classes. The goal of this assignment is that it is useful to you.
