Case statements, proposals, and grants  

Summary:

In the previous unit, you engaged in an extended research project into the writing done in and around your field/career. The final product of that unit was a large report summarizing your findings. Unit #3 is designed to build on your previous work by analyzing and composing various genres of professional documents found in the workplace.
Unit #3 will allow you to
1) Review and analyze your report from Unit #2
2) Produce a series of memos (paper and electronic) for a variety of situations
3) Produce a detailed funding request (in an appropriate genre)
4) Analyze and produce other documents specific to your field/career
5) Learn techniques of document design and copyediting

Feb 25th Evaluations of Unit 2; begin Unit 3
feb 27th Review Reports; Memos assigned
Mar 4th Funding sources; Funding requests assigned
Mar 6th Other documents, as appropriate; Copy-editing
Mar 11th Spring Break
Mar 13th Spring Break
Mar 18th All documents due; Proposals
Mar 20th Class Cancelled (I am at a conference in NY)
Mar 24th-28th Individual conferences (to be scheduled)
