Summary:
Unit #4 asks you to draw on the all previous units as well as your own experience and field-specific knowledge to collaboratively complete a project. Your project will be of your group’s own choosing, and it will require a written proposal to be approved prior to the project commencing.

Unit #4 will allow you to
1) Draw on your work in previous units
2) Produce a 1 page professional proposal for review
3) Learn and teach a specific workplace genre not previously covered
4) Produce and follow your own calendar/schedule
5) Produce a PowerPoint presentation and/or run a workshop (15 minutes)

Proposals:
• Identify a specific workplace genre, not yet covered in class, that you wish to learn about and present to the class as a whole
• Include a calendar or other schedule and dates for progress reports
• Include a cover memo
• Maximum one page in length (does not include memo)
• Proposal must be accepted, with all changes agreed upon

Presentations/Workshops:
• Demonstrate expertise in a given genre
• Identify key elements or features of a given genre
• Teach the audience about the genre, its use, applications, risks, varieties, etc
• Maximum 15 minutes in length
• Make use of technology in some form, as appropriate

Progress Reports:
• Written as memos, either hardcopy or electronic, as defined in your proposal
• Include any supporting documents, as necessary and appropriate

Calendar:
Apr 1st—Begin Unit #4
Apr 3rd—Proposals do by end of day
Apr 8th—Meetings to negotiate proposals (to be scheduled)
Apr 8th-Apr 24th—Proposals and other group work, as necessary
Apr 15th and 17th—No Class (I am at a Conference in California)
Apr 24th—Review presentations with group
Apr 29th—Last Day of Class (Presentations/Workshops)
